Students completing this program will have obtained the basic skill sets required to assume an entry- level position within the power generation industry. The Energy Systems Technology program provides College of the Desert students with opportunities for immediate employment in the power generation industries. Upon program completion, students will be prepared to enter the field as a Utility Employee, Solar Integrator, Union Electrician, Operations and Maintenance Technician, Photovoltaic System Designer or Photovoltaic Systems Sales Person. Specific objectives for the Energy Systems Technology program include:
•Equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to comprehend the five disciplines of renewable energy and their impact on the developing world.
•Educating students in the areas of fossil fuels and the corresponding economic and environmental impact.
•Preparing students with the information and background needed to work in a vertically integrated renewable energy industry.
