Internships

College of the Desert’s Building and Energy Systems Professional (BESP) program offers students numerous opportunities to intern and receive practical hands-on training through the Energize Colleges program. College of the Desert, in partnership with Strategic Energy Innovations, launched the Energize Colleges program in 2016. This program places BESP students in paid internships with local industry partners, allowing students to gain practical field experience and to work on renewable energy/energy efficiency projects in the community. Interns have worked on projects like drafting architectural designs, installing and maintaining energy efficient HVAC systems, managing construction projects, conducting building inspections, and analyzing solar controls/monitoring systems. These internships have been hosted by the companies listed below, many of whom have hired students upon completion of their internship. The program is rapidly expanding and we expect to form partnerships with many more local companies in the future.
